Mombasa Cement Silo

It was constructed with slip form work specialized from Switzerland. Silo structure has 19.00m dia with 800mm thick RC wall up to 27.00m and above that wall thickness reduced to 500mm.

Silo structure has intermediate slab for mechanical service installation at 8.00 meter by 16.00 meter. It has 3.00 m thick slab at 27.00 meter for de dusting chamber with central cone.

Silo structure has top roof slab at 83.50 meter supported with structural girders which was also lifted with working platform with the slip form system.

The complete silo slip formwork / reinforcement and concrete works took 29 days from level 0.00 to 83.50m for wall structures with raising capacity of @ 3.00 meter per day – 24 hours concrete pouring.

Batching plant was installed at site to facilitate 24 hours concrete work.
